Turmeric-Ginger Tonic

As winter approaches, we make a batch of this tonic and use it to make our fav immunity boosting tea. Also makes a great turmeric-ginger gin and tonic.

Preparation time 20 mins

Makes 4 cups of tea

Ingredients

1/2 tsp ground turmeric

1 inch ginger

2 tbsp jaggery

a pinch of fresh ground black pepper

1/2 wedge of lemon

2 cups of water

Method

1. Throughly wash the ginger and roughly cut it into slices

2. In a saucepan, add the cut ginger, turmeric powder, pepper, jaggery and water

3. Bring to a boil and simmer on a low flame for 10-15 mins

4. Turn off the stove and let it cool

5. Squeeze the lemon juice into the cooled tonic

6. Strain into a mason jar with a tight sealable lid and store in the refrigerator for 2 weeks

How to enjoy

Make turmeric-ginger tea by mixing 6-8 tbsps of the tonic in a cup of hot water and a sprig of mint leaves
